UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.

On 17 November, the combined teams impounded industrial materials worth K8.232 million without official documents from luggage at the Yangon International Airport and a Hino truck (worth approximately K60 million) carrying consumer goods valued at K11.6 million without official document at the Mayanchaung permanent and an unregistered vehicle and 11 unregistered motorbikes valued at K13.75 million in Pathein, Myaungmya and Maubin Districts. The action was taken under the Export-Import Law and Customs procedures. On 18 November, the combined teams conducted inspections. They seized illegal timbers weighing 0.509 tonne worth K122,352 in Toungoo District, an unregistered Honda Fit (worth approximately K15 million) at the Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint in Sagaing Township and three unregistered vehicles and two unregistered motorbikes (worth approximately K35 million) in Mawlamyine and Thaton Districts. The action was carried out under the Forest Law and the Export-Import Law.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 22 arrests on 17 and 18 November, seizing illegal goods worth approximately K143.7 million.
