On 28 September, the US Embassy in Yangon announced that Myanmar is among the countries set to receive new global health and humanitarian assistance worth nearly US$2 billion.
The statement noted that this assistance will be provided through trusted faith-based and community-based organizations, delivering vital ongoing support to the people of Myanmar.
The embassy stated that efforts are underway to partner with aid organizations that have demonstrated positive results to ensure resources directly reach areas in greatest need.
The US Embassy also highlighted that it is working to ensure measurable results in humanitarian operations and responsible spending of US taxpayer funds, delivering aid to the people of Myanmar in their time of critical need.
Earlier, on 21 September, the US Embassy released a statement noting that US assistance is providing temporary support for basic needs such as food, clean water, healthcare, and sanitation. The embassy stated that its goal is to save lives in Myanmar and contribute to a safer, more secure United States by strengthening peace, security, and long-term stability. — TWA/ZN
