People’s military servants who have completed their required service period were honoured at ceremonies held at regional military headquarters across the country yesterday. The servicemen were presented with certificates confirming completion of military service, service badges, commendation certificates and cash awards.
Some servicemen who qualified for reduced service periods under the law were also included.
Servicemen who complete their required term may choose to continue serving in the military. Those who previously worked for private companies are expected to be able to return to their former or similar positions.
Vocational training and employment opportunities are being arranged for discharged servicemen through government departments, local businesses, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), and overseas employment agencies. Some former servicemen have also chosen to continue serving in the military voluntarily.
