Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw attended the 2026 China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Ministerial Roundtable Meeting in Nanning, China, on 17 September.
The Union minister discussed opportunities for China and ASEAN countries to enhance cooperation in AI technology and promote responsible, transparent, fair and secure artificial intelligence (AI) development. He also highlighted Myanmar’s ongoing efforts to develop AI technology and the potential benefits of enhanced China-ASEAN cooperation in this field. Participants also exchanged views on AI governance, cybersecurity, and opportunities to train and nurture a new generation of AI professionals.
The Union minister attended a dinner hosted by the deputy head of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government.
Yesterday he visited China-ASEAN Information Harbour Co Ltd (CAIH) in Nanning and held discussions with its CEO on developing AI infrastructure between China and Myanmar, creating AI-based applications to support the health, education and agriculture sectors, and developing AI professionals.
