The Myanmar delegation, led by Deputy Minister for Science and Technology Dr Nay Chi Lae Lae Thein attended the 14th China-ASEAN Forum on Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation and related events held in Nanning, China, on 16 and 17 September.

At the forum on 16 September, the deputy minister shared Myanmar’s science and technology development initiatives, particularly on AI innovation cooperation, and discussed ways to promote AI development and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries. She also attended and presented awards at the China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Awards ceremony.

The delegation also discussed strengthening China-ASEAN cooperation in science, technology and innovation, expanding technology transfer and effectively applying advanced technologies for socioeconomic development. During the forum, the delegation visited Wuxiang Cloud Valley Co Ltd and the Guangxi Institute of Artificial Intelligence to learn about AI-related technologies, research and practical applications.

On 17 September, the deputy minister attended the opening ceremony of the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo, visited advanced technology exhibits and held discussions with relevant organizations on developing the technology sector and expanding technology-based cooperation.

The discussions provided opportunities for Myanmar to enhance cooperation, technology transfer and technology applications with China and ASEAN countries, exchange knowledge and experience in advanced technologies including AI, and promote regional technological, economic and socioeconomic development. — MNA/KTZH
