UNION Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin has instructed officials to strive for the timely completion of ongoing projects to increase electricity supply ahead of the coming summer.

The Union minister instructed while inspecting the 230-kV Pyinmana Main Substation and Shwemyo Main Substation in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on 16 September.

During the inspection, he said breakdowns in the electricity supply system were unacceptable and that measures were being taken to prevent such incidents, although this would take considerable time. He added that preparations were underway to deploy Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technology to prevent complete power outages at important locations and restore electricity supply as quickly as possible.

He also instructed officials to accurately assess the minimum electricity load requirements of each area in advance.

The Ministry of Electricity and Energy is focusing on balanced development in electricity generation, transmission and distribution to establish a reliable supply system for the public. — TWA/ KZL
