MPT mobile services provided by Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) have been restored in Falam Township, Chin State, and residents can now apply for MPT SIM cards.

Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thant Zaw Lwin, accompanied by the Chin State Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and members of the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee, inspected the resumption of services.

Telephone communication in Falam Township had previously been disrupted by violent incidents, with only MEC-CDMA services available. Following the restoration of MPT mobile services, MPT staff based at the Falam Township General Administration Department have resumed services, including the replacement and re-registration of lost or damaged SIM cards and the sale of new SIM cards.

The deputy minister also inspected repairs to the 66/11 kV substation building, missing and damaged equipment, substation staff housing, the District Forest Department office and staff housing, and the Township Forest Department office and staff housing.

He instructed local companies to cooperate with the relevant departments to ensure that repair and construction works meet the prescribed standards, use quality materials and are completed within the specified timeframe. — MNA/MKKS
