PYITHU Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi received a delegation led by Honourable Mr Takei Shunsuke, a member of the House of Representatives of Japan, at the Pyithu Hluttaw building in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon. At the meeting, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker stated that the Pyithu Hluttaw of Myanmar has been forming parliamentary friendship groups and working to promote friendship and closer relations with the parliaments of other countries.
He said that a Myanmar-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Association has already been formed in the Pyithu Hluttaw to promote friendly relations with Japan’s House of Representatives. He said that the parliamentary sector could take the initiative in promoting relations and cooperation between the two countries. He stated a desire to promote parliamentary exchanges and interactions, cooperation between parliamentary committees, and collaboration in the areas of youth, women and technology.
The Speaker expressed his belief that efforts to further strengthen relations between the two countries, which have maintained longstanding good relations based on friendship, would not face significant difficulties. In response, Japanese House of Representatives member Honorable Mr Takei Shunsuke said that he would make efforts to promote cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. He said that upon arriving in Myanmar, he had observed peaceful and pleasant conditions, which differed from the news being reported externally.
Therefore, he would make efforts to resume tourism between the two countries so as to promote people-to-people friendship, which is important for strengthening bilateral relations, and to enable Japanese people to explore Myanmar’s beautiful natural and cultural heritage. He also stated that more than 100,000 Myanmar workers are currently working in Japan and have earned a good reputation for their diligence and good conduct. Japan is also working to recruit foreign workers under the new Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) system.
He explained the purpose of his current visit that was to help resume tourism between the two countries, promote cooperation in human resources development and the economy, and further strengthen bilateral relations and people-to-people exchanges. The Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker was accompanied by Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn, Chairman of the Pyithu Hluttaw Transport, Digital and Science Technology Committee Dr Nanda Hla Myint and officials from the Pyithu Hluttaw Office.
