The Myanmar Embassy in Singapore has announced that it has suspended all Facebook activities after its official pages were disrupted, and warned Myanmar nationals to beware of fraudulent websites and pages impersonating the embassy.
The embassy continues to provide consular services and issue announcements through its official website, Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and its Telegram channel, Myanmar Embassy in Singapore. Previously, its Facebook account, Myanmar Embassy, Singapore, had been used to announce passport-renewal appointment lists, school examination dates and results, notices about lost property, and consular services.
However, the official Facebook pages “Myanmar Embassy, Singapore” and “မြန်မာသံရုံး၊ စင်ကာပူမြို့” have been inaccessible since 2 September because of interference by certain individuals. The embassy said it would issue a further announcement if the pages became available again.
