Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ko Ko Kyaw has invited Russian businesses and investors to explore investment opportunities in Myanmar during the 11th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the Russian Federation.
U Ko Ko Kyaw, who is attending the forum as part of the Myanmar delegation, spoke at a discussion titled “The Business Environment of the Future: Global Experience and New Solutions” at the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok yesterday.
The session was moderated by Mr Mikhail Khomich, head of the Strategy Department at Russia’s VEB.RF investment and development institution. Russian Economic Development Minister Mr Maxim Reshetnikov and senior representatives from the Russian Presidential Administration, ROSATOM, Sberbank and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, as well as the heads of the Korea-Russia and Thailand-Russia Business Councils, also took part.
Participants discussed global economic and investment trends, including successful experiences in Russia’s Far East, as well as possible solutions to challenges facing businesses and investors.
U Ko Ko Kyaw highlighted Myanmar’s Investment Law and Special Economic Zone Law, which he said had been established in line with international legal standards to protect investors’ interests.
He also outlined efforts to create a stable and sustainable investment environment for international businesses, while identifying MSMEs and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) projects as priority areas for investment.
The deputy foreign minister called on Russian entrepreneurs and investors to consider investing in Myanmar and discussed potential areas for expanded economic cooperation.
