UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat illicit trade continue to be effectively carried out by the law.

On 11 November, joint teams impounded a Mitsubishi Fuso truck, valued at approximately K30 million, which was transporting consumer goods worth K9.63 million without official documentation at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint. The operation was conducted in line with Customs procedures.

On the same day, combined teams also conducted inspections at various locations, seizing two trucks, with an estimated value of K68 million, carrying industrial materials, consumer goods, and motorbike spare parts valued at around K89.84 million at the Myitnge checkpoint. Additionally, a Nissan Diesel truck, valued at approximately K40 million, was impounded in Sintgaing Township for carrying industrial materials and motorbike spare parts worth about K30 million without official documents. Another Mitsubishi Fuso fighter van, valued at K32 million, was seized in Myittha Township, carrying industrial materials worth around K15 million without official documentation. The action was undertaken as per Customs procedures.

A joint on-duty team also seized 950.25 litres of sulphuric acid, valued at K1.34 million, from a warehouse in Kawthoung Township. They also confiscated two unregistered vehicles and three unregistered motorbikes, valued at K62 million, in Maubin, Danuphyu, and Myaungmya Townships, along with 97.476 tonnes of illegal timber, worth K12.72 million, in Pathein and Pyapon Districts. The action was carried out under the Forest Law.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 19 arrests on 11 November, seizing illegal goods valued at approximately K390 million.
