COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo received Mr Chatchai Bangchuad, Secretary-General of the National Security Council of Thailand, in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the successful holding of the 9th High Level Committee (9th HLC) meeting between the Myanmar and Thai armed forces in Thailand, measures to enhance cooperation between the two Tatmadaws in successfully promoting stability and peace, the rule of law, development and counter-terrorism efforts in border areas, border trade, the effective measures being undertaken by the State as a national task to prevent and suppress online scams and gambling, further cooperation between the two governments and Tatmadaws as more than 99 per cent of those involved in online scams are illegal cross-border entrants.
The meeting also covered measures to prevent and control the illegal transport, sale and trafficking of arms and ammunition, narcotic drugs and controlled chemical substances, full cooperation on security matters to ensure that people living in the border areas of both countries can live in stability and peace, the timely exchange of information, and continued efforts to further strengthen the existing friendly relations and cooperation between the two armed forces.
After the meeting, the General and the Secretary-General exchanged gifts and posed for a documentary. — MNA/KTZH
