Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi received a delegation of private high school founders who observed the 29th day of the second regular session of the Third Pyithu Hluttaw as observers at the reception hall of the Pyithu Hluttaw building yesterday.
The private high school founders introduced themselves individually and then briefed the Speaker on the current operations of private schools.
The Speaker stated that education is the most fundamental and vital element for national development. He noted that the government prioritizes ensuring that all school-age children receive basic education while also working to enable those outside the formal school system to continue their studies. He added that private schools play a crucial role in advancing the education sector and that the Hluttaw has established an Education Promotion Committee to coordinate with relevant ministries in promoting educational development.
He further mentioned that nine laws currently exist in the education sector. The committee is reviewing these laws to ensure that they are in line with current conditions and will gradually amend, supplement, or repeal them as necessary. In closing, he urged private schools to cooperate with the government and Hluttaws to help advance the nation’s education sector.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn and officials from the Pyithu Hluttaw Office.
