Water supply restoration works are underway in Falam after pipelines distributing water from the Laiva dam to the town were damaged during a terrorist attack. Under the supervision of the Minister for Chin State Development Affairs, the repair works were carried out, and as of Monday, water had reached the town’s four main reservoirs, each with a capacity of 100,000 gallons, and efforts are continuing to distribute water to urban areas.
Chin State Development Affairs Minister U Aung Kyaw Htay, who is also a member of the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Working Committee, inspected the completed water storage at the four 100,000-gallon main reservoirs supplied from the Laiva dam near Talanzar Village, about 20 miles from Falam. He also checked the distribution of water from the main reservoirs to ward-level storage tanks, and the completion of pipeline works to deliver water to residential areas across the town.
