Officials of the Department of Rural Development inspected the completed rural water supply project in Bantbwekyin Village, Nawnghkio Township, on 11 July. The project aimed to ensure an adequate supply of drinking water to rural residents and to ensure year-round access to safe drinking water.
Officials of Shan State (North) and District Department of Rural Development and engineering staff looked into the laying of a spring water pipeline measuring one mile and four furlongs, a 5,000-gallon brick water tank and an embankment measuring 25 feet in length, three feet in width and five feet in height in the village.
In meeting with members of the village water supply committee and villagers, officials discussed the need to ensure the long-term sustainability of the water supply facilities and to use the water distribution system properly.
The project was implemented under the Quick Win Programme with K64.5 million provided under the fund. The project has now been completed 100 per cent, enabling rural residents in the village to enjoy access to clean drinking water throughout the year. — Cho Than Nyunt (Rural)
