ALTHOUGH Myanmar is richly endowed with abundant sunlight, the amount of electricity generated and utilized from solar energy remains low.

As the Ministry of Electricity and Energy continues its efforts to increase solar power generation, it is promoting these initiatives through two main approaches: integrating solar systems into the national grid at a suitable ratio and encouraging the installation and use of solar systems by individuals and groups.

By collaboratively addressing the technological limitations and administrative challenges encountered in this process, effective and beneficial plans and projects can be implemented more rapidly.

Therefore, with the aim of significantly increasing the share of solar energy in the country’s electricity consumption, the Ministry of Electricity and Energy is making arrangements to hold a comprehensive workshop during the first week of July 2026.

For this workshop, experts, entrepreneurs, officials from relevant organizations, as well as students and individuals interested in solar technology, battery technology, and solar power systems, are cordially invited to attend, discuss, and offer suggestions. Those who wish to propose discussion topics are kindly requested to contact U Myo Thant Tun, Director of the Department of Electric Power Transmission & System Control, by dialing 09 43016690 and 067 3410471 and through dgdptsc2021@ gmail.com.
