A total of 19 people, including government staff and members of the public, were injured after a timed explosive attack at the Township Immigration Office in Sagaing yesterday morning, according to reports.
The explosion occurred while the office was carrying out the “Lamin Project” to issue citizenship scrutiny cards and collect e-ID data for eligible citizens and students.
Authorities said six staff members and 13 civilians sustained shrapnel injuries in the blast, which also damaged office rooms and official documents. The injured were transported to the Sagaing General Hospital for medical treatment.
Officials stated that security forces are investigating the incident and working to identify and arrest those responsible, while condemning attacks targeting civilian administrative services.
