UNION Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing received Mr Barnaby Jones, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to Myanmar, at the meeting hall of the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The two sides cordially exchanged views on enabling UNHCR staff to inform relevant local authorities while carrying out domestic travel and necessary assistance activities, coordinating only with officially registered NGOs and INGOs, ensuring that UNHCR uses information officially confirmed and released by relevant departments and organizations when publishing information, and continuing cooperation between the Ministry and UNHCR.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Minister U Lin Zaw Tun, the permanent secretary, the director-general of the Immigration Department and other relevant officials.
