Vehicles that transported essential development supplies along the Mandalay-Myitkyina route have returned to Mandalay after completing their second delivery mission, according to reports.
The Mandalay-Myitkyina communication route, linking Mandalay Region, Sagaing Region and Kachin State via Mandalay-Madaya-Thabeikkyin-Tagaung-Htigyaing-Katha-Indaw-Mawlu-Nantsi Aung-Mohnyin-Mogaung-Myitkyina, was fully reopened on 6 May after being brought under full control in areas previously affected by terrorist insurgents.
Following the reopening, the state government and Tatmadaw coordinated the transport of essential goods, including foodstuffs, consumer products, construction materials, medicines and medical supplies, school stationery and fuel from Mandalay to Myitkyina under a second supply mission, which reached Myitkyina on 31 May.
The returning convoy left Myitkyina on 3 June carrying local products from towns and villages along the route destined for Mandalay markets, along with government staff being transferred to new duty stations, their family members, and personnel travelling for training. The vehicles arrived back in Mandalay on the morning of 4 June.
Officials noted that with the route reopened, rehabilitation work ongoing, and damaged roads and bridges repaired, transport and trade along the corridor have returned to normal. Passenger and freight vehicles are now operating regularly, so local communities can resume travel and commercial activities smoothly, with continued coordination between security forces, departments and residents in regional recovery efforts.
