THE Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Tachilek District, Shan State (East), inspected the ongoing concrete road construction work in old Panau Village, Tachilek Township, on the morning of 29 May. The project implementation is underway for the 2026-2027 financial year to improve transport and connectivity for rural residents.
During the inspection, Township DRD Officer Daw Lei Lei Thin and project staff, together with members of the Village Development Committee, inspected the construction of the village concrete road measuring 280 feet in length, 10 feet in width, and six inches in thickness. Afterwards, the township DRD officer met village elders and residents and emphasized the importance of completing the project within the timeframe in accordance with the specified standards to ensure the road’s long-term sustainability.
Necessary coordination and support were also provided. The concrete road construction project is being implemented under the Village Development Project (VDP) with financial support of K15 million from the project fund and K1.65 million contributed by local people, totalling K16.65 million. Villagers themselves carried out the project under the close supervision of DRD staff since the third week of May this year, and it is currently 45 per cent completed. Upon completion, the road is expected to improve transport significantly for residents.
