CHAIRMAN of the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee and Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Dr Than Soe, together with Vice Chairman of the committee and Chin State Security and Border Affairs Minister Colonel Khin Maung Htwe, the Secretary of the Chin State government, and deputy directors-general from Union ministries, inspected damage to government buildings and residents’ houses in Tonzang Township yesterday. They later attended a donation ceremony for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Tonzang Township held at the Basic Education High School in the township.
The deputy minister and the state minister said they had come to assist in rebuilding the damaged areas. They added that administrative functions had resumed in Tonzang Township and stressed the need for all stakeholders to work together to strengthen governance and the rule of law.
They also provided relief supplies for the rehabilitation of Tonzang Township and donated K13,689,900 to support 39 households comprising 265 residents in purchasing rice, oil, salt, beans, and fish-paste sufficient for two weeks. Township elders and officials received the provision of assistance on behalf of the residents.
