Union Election Commission Chairman U Than Soe, along with commission members, attended a meeting yesterday morning at the meeting hall of the Sagaing Region Government Office with members and staff of the Regional Supervisory Committee for the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM), as well as regional-, district-, and township-level election subcommissions in Sagaing Region.
The UEC chairman addressed the meeting, stating that the successfully concluded election had proven to be free and fair and had gained the support of the public. Therefore, he urged everyone to strive to the best of their abilities to enable the continued use of MEVM voting machines in upcoming elections as well.
Afterwards, UEC members, regional ministers, and departmental officials held further discussions on electoral work carried out, experiences gained, difficulties encountered, and requirements.
On 21 May, U Than Soe and members also inspected the storage and maintenance of the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines in Sagaing and Monywa. They issued instructions on operational procedures to be followed and met with staff at the district and township commission offices to deliver remarks.
The UEC chairman presented cash rewards to staff who are currently stationed in Monywa and Sagaing due to various reasons related to regional circumstances.
