CARGO vehicles that transported government staff and essential supplies along the Mandalay-Myitkyina route have returned to Mandalay after completing deliveries to support administrative functions in towns and villages along the corridor.
Authorities said the transport operation followed the reopening of the Mandalay-Madaya-Thabeikkyin-Tagaung-Htigyaing-Katha-Indaw-Mawlu-Nantsee Aung-Mohnyin-Mogaung-Myitkyina road on 6 May, which links Kachin State and Sagaing Region with Mandalay Region.
The convoy had carried government personnel, basic food supplies, consumer goods, construction materials, medicines, school textbooks, stationery, and fuel from Mandalay to Myitkyina to support regional rehabilitation efforts, healthcare services, and school reopening preparations.
The return convoy departed Myitkyina on 15 May and passed through Mogaung, Mohnyin, Nantsee Aung, Mawlu, Indaw, Katha, Htigyaing, Tagaung, Thabeikkyin, and Madaya before arriving back in Mandalay on Friday evening.
Authorities added that the vehicles also transported local products for sale in Mandalay, government employees and family members delayed by travel disruptions, trainees heading for courses, and residents seeking medical treatment in the city.
