Myanma Railways has announced that starting 15 May, the No 11 Up and No 12 Down Express trains—which serve numerous stops along the Yangon-Mandalay-Yangon route—will be upgraded by replacing the original AAR coaches with modern airbag suspension coaches.

The new train sets will feature four Upper Class carriages, with two air-conditioned carriages at 45,000 kyats per ticket and two non-air-conditioned carriages at 27,000 kyats. Ticket prices for Ordinary Class and the current list of station stops will remain unchanged.

Myanma Railways stated that this upgrade aims to ensure passengers have comfortable travel options, particularly for those unable to secure DEMU tickets. The department expressed its commitment to meeting travelers’ needs and extended its gratitude to passengers for their patience during the necessary maintenance and upgrade periods. – Htun Htun/ZN
