During the first three months of 2026, a total of 888 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, resulting in 486 fatalities and 1,208 injuries, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Yangon Region recorded the highest number of accidents during this period, with 199 incidents, leading to 273 injuries and 96 deaths.

Ayeyawady Region reported the second-highest number of accidents, with 135 cases, in which 191 people were injured and 64 lost their lives. Meanwhile, on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, 46 accidents were recorded, causing 52 injuries and 30 deaths.

During the same period in 2025, there were 856 traffic accidents nationwide, with a total of 1,265 injuries and 453 fatalities. — ASH/KZL
