The Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS), in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), held a Heatwave and Monsoon Season Preparedness (Pre-Disaster) Meeting in a hybrid format at the MRCS Yangon Branch on 28 and 29 April.
The meeting aimed to review experiences, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned from disaster response activities during the 2025-2026 period, and to strengthen preparedness to mitigate risks in the upcoming season.
Discussions focused on major natural hazards commonly affecting Nay Pyi Taw and other regions and states, as well as on logistics readiness and procurement arrangements for future disaster response.
Officials from MRCS, IFRC, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and Red Cross societies from Denmark, Germany, Finland, Norway, and the Republic of Korea attended the meeting.
