On the Kason Full Moon Day, also known as Buddha Day, devotees thronged the Shwedagon Pagoda and other pagodas across Yangon, performing meritorious deeds and pouring water on sacred Bodhi trees.

The 43rd Kason water-pouring ceremony, organized by the Pagoda Board of Trustees, commenced at 5:30 am on the platform of Shwedagon Pagoda, where offerings, religious observances and recitations were conducted.

Members of the Sangha, officials and pilgrims took precepts, made donations, listened to sermons and shared merits before carrying out the traditional water-pouring ritual at the Maha Bodhi tree.

Similar ceremonies took place at other prominent pagodas in Yangon, including Botahtaung Pagoda and Kaba Aye Pagoda, attracting large numbers of worshippers, while donors offered charity meals, adding to the festive atmosphere. — Zaw Min Latt (MNA)/KZL
