IN the 2026-2027 financial year, the Ministry of Finance and Revenue will provide loans at approximately twice the current rate to help cover farmers’ production costs. In addition, agricultural machinery loans will be made available to farmers and agricultural producers.

Loans of up to K3 billion will be provided for one sector, while loans exceeding K3 billion will be available for another sector, to increase productivity in agriculture-based industries.

The increased loan amounts and the new agricultural machinery loan programme are scheduled to be launched in early May. The new loan programme will offer low-interest financing, enabling farmers to access funds that meet their practical needs. This is expected to strengthen farmers’ confidence in the national government and state-owned banks.

The Myanma Agricultural Development Bank provides seasonal loans to farmers each year during the monsoon, winter, and summer growing periods. Pre-monsoon crop loans are currently being issued for 24 crops, including paddy. In the 2026-2027 financial year, loan amounts will be increased to approximately twice the current level to ensure adequate support for farmers’ production costs.
