At present, Myanmar has returned to the correct democratic path in line with the will of the people and what the people desire. The past five-year period can be regarded as a time of efforts to review, correct, and implement improvements in the shortcomings of democratic practice, and the current five-year period is the stage in which the democratic system will begin to be implemented in a disciplined and practical manner. In other words, it is the beginning of writing a second new chapter in the implementation of the democratic system.

Indeed, everybody must learn lessons from the experiences that have occurred and strive to establish a “clean government and good governance.” With the cooperation of Union ministries and regional and state governments, efforts will be made to successfully achieve the set goals and objectives. It is necessary to work with all available capacity and capability to ensure the country’s development and meet the needs of the people in accordance with laws and procedures, without any shortcomings or weaknesses.

Myanmar experienced many strengths as well as weaknesses during its period of democratic transition. Due to limited and developing experience, it also faced numerous difficulties and challenges. At present, Myanmar has re-established itself on the democratic path and is advancing toward a better future. Therefore, efforts must be made to further strengthen and build a more solid multiparty democratic system.

The new government has resolved that, in order to overcome difficulties across all fields and sectors—including global affairs, Myanmar’s internal affairs, peace, politics, economy, and social issues—the government and the people will work hand in hand in close cooperation to face and overcome these challenges together. The new government will continue to implement its objectives and processes aimed at strengthening a genuine and disciplined multiparty democratic system, and building a Union based on democracy and a federal system.

The rule of law is an essential and fundamental pillar for ensuring a country’s stability and development. In addition, all citizens must conduct themselves in a way that is free from corruption. Corruption significantly undermines a country’s development and also damages the moral character and mindset of individuals.

Therefore, the new government will strive to strengthen and firmly establish the democratic transition process on a solid foundation. By drawing lessons from past experiences, it will work toward achieving “clean government and good governance,” and believes that it will be able to continue successfully building a strong and robust new democratic nation without weaknesses or shortcomings.
