President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing received delegations from Laos and Vietnam at the Presidential Guest Hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday evening.
The Lao delegation was led by ASEAN Chair’s Special Envoy to Myanmar Mr Alounkeo Kittikhoun, while the Vietnamese delegation was headed by the director-general of the South-East Asia, South Asia and South Pacific Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Also present at the meeting together with the President were President’s Office Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe. The meeting saw Lao Ambassador to Myanmar Bounphieng Chanthavong, officials from the Vietnamese Embassy, and members of the respective delegations.
Both sides cordially discussed their participation in the presidential inauguration ceremony and expressed satisfaction over the growing diplomatic relations, friendship and cooperation among the countries.
They also exchanged views on Myanmar’s constructive engagement within ASEAN and matters relating to strengthening regional cooperation.
