President of the Republic of the Union for Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing received Mr Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs of the Republic of India, who attended the President’s oath-taking ceremony, at the Presidential Guest Hall yesterday afternoon.

Also present at the meeting were President’s Office Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe, and officials. The Indian External Affairs Minister of State was accompanied by Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur, and officials.

The Indian delegation conveyed a goodwill message sent by Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi to the President and presented it accordingly.

Both sides cordially exchanged views on further strengthening the long-standing friendly relations between Myanmar and India as neighbouring countries sharing common borders. They discussed promotion of bilateral trade and investment, including facilitation of local currency settlement, implementation of ongoing cooperation projects, and efforts for stability and development in border regions, as well as enhancement of cross-border trade.

After the meeting, the President and the Indian Foreign Minister of State exchanged commemorative gifts and posed for group documentary photos together with those present. — MNA/KZL
