VIETNAM’S southern hub Ho Chi Minh City plans to build a political and administrative centre in the Thu Thiem new urban area, aiming to create a centralized and modern working space to support the governance of a major metropolis, local daily VnExpress reported Wednesday.

The centre is designed to be a

26-storey building and will be developed under an environmentally friendly model, featuring open spaces to facilitate public access to administrative services. City authorities are scheduled to complete planning and investment procedures and break ground on the project in the first quarter of this year. The centre is expected to become operational in 2027.

The Thu Thiem new urban area, located on the western side of the Saigon River, covers an area of 930 hectares.
