JAPANESE Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Friday stressed the importance of upholding a “rules-based, free and fair economic order” amid growing uncertainty over the global economy at a regional summit in South Korea.
In her speech at the two-day Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum summit that began Friday in Gyeongju, Takaichi said Japan will strive to promote regional trade and investment by ensuring the transparent implementation of free trade agreements, according to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
She also called for accelerating innovation in such growth sectors as artificial intelligence, digital technology and energy, as well as promoting high-quality infrastructure projects and bolstering supply chain resilience against natural disasters to spur economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
