Every country strives to make its future more developed and prosperous than it is today, and Myanmar is likewise working to ensure a more stable, peaceful, and prosperous future for the nation. Everyone desires peace, tranquillity, and development. In keeping with this common aspiration, everyone must contribute to the best of their ability in whatever capacity they can. The Republic of the Union of Myanmar is practising a genuine and disciplined multiparty democratic system.
At present, a government and Hluttaws elected by an overwhelming majority of the people have been established and are working for the benefit of the nation and its people. With the situation becoming more peaceful and stable, large numbers of pilgrims can be seen visiting pagodas, temples and stupas across Myanmar on significant religious occasions, while devotees observe religious precepts and keep Sabbath days at monasteries and religious establishments to engage in meritorious deeds. Everyone desires peace of mind and good physical health. People perform meritorious deeds because they wish to journey through life with mental well-being and physical health.
The Myanmar people live in accordance with the Four Sublime States of Mind – loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity – and this contributes to peace, harmony and prosperity in the country. The people of Myanmar possess the admirable qualities of wishing not only for their own prosperity and success but also for that of others, and they have a strong desire to live in peace and tranquillity. All religions place great emphasis on loving-kindness and empathy, teaching people to act, speak and think in ways that are free from wrongdoing and do not cause harm or suffering to others.
Furthermore, ethical principles governing the duties of children toward their parents, parents toward their children, disciples toward their teachers, and teachers towards their students, as well as the principles of auspiciousness that lead to prosperity and well-being, the teachings contained in scriptures such as the Dhammapada, and the guidance found in books of moral conduct have all helped the Myanmar people attain a high level of cultural refinement. This, in turn, gives rise to happy and harmonious families and communities.
Those who bring peace of mind and happiness to others, do good for their benefit, and help them accumulate merit will undoubtedly enjoy well-being and happiness both in this life and in the life hereafter. Everyone who wishes to enjoy peace, harmony and development throughout the nation should strive to prevent misconduct and foster genuine loving-kindness among one another
