CHINESE automaker BYD Auto has launched its new electric bus model in Israel, its local official importer said Thursday.

Dozens of buses of the B12e03 model, capable of carrying up to 105 passengers, are expected to be delivered to public transport operators across the country by the end of 2026, said a statement from Shlomo Motors.

The 12-metre-long bus is built on an entirely new electric platform and features BYD’s Blade lithium iron phosphate battery, with a capacity of 491 kWh and a driving range of up to 600 kilometres on a single charge, the statement said.

Its charging capacity reaches 200 kW using a single connector and 336 kW with two connectors.

A key feature is its cell-to-chassis design, integrating the battery pack into the vehicle’s chassis to improve thermal efficiency, reduce wiring and lower vehicle weight, according to the statement.

The design also strengthens the bus floor, lowers its centre of gravity, and improves dynamic performance. — Xinhua
