MYANMAR’S Ambassador to China U Zaw Win Myint participated in discussions at the 2026 World Maritime Equipment Conference held on 15-18 October in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The “Two Countries, Twin Parks” cooperation model offers good opportunities for enhancing seafood processing capacity, modernizing cold-chain logistics, improving product quality and linking Myanmar’s economic zones and ports with Fujian’s advanced maritime infrastructure, the ambassador said.

Myanmar will continue working with China and ASEAN member states to strengthen maritime cooperation in line with the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, he added. Fujian province is a significant area of the Maritime Silk Road, and Fuzhou is an important gateway for maritime-based economic development and regional connectivity. Myanmar has more than 2,000 kilometres of coastline along the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea, with major potential for developing the blue economy, including sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, maritime transport and logistics. About 150 people attended the conference, including ambassadors and representatives from Chinese embassies. — ASH/KK
