The second day of the 61st Myanma Gems Emporium 2026 continued yesterday morning at Maniradana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw, which was crowded with local and foreign gem traders.
From the morning, local and foreign gem traders examined pearl lots, jade, gemstone lots and jade lots displayed in designated areas outside the hall. Traders inspected the pearl lots offered for sale at the Emporium and submitted their bids in the designated tender boxes.
In the afternoon, officials opened and examined the bids submitted for pearl lots numbered 1 to 240 and announced that 205 lots had been sold.
On the third day of the exhibition, pearl lots numbered 241 to 460 will be offered to local and foreign gem traders through an open tender system.
The exhibition is being held from 8 to 17 October, with 700 pearl lots offered from 9 to 11 October, 160 gemstone lots from 12 October, and 3,073 jade lots, divided into three groups (A, B and C), offered from 13 to 17 October.
The 3,073 jade lots have been divided into three groups (A, B and C) to encourage and promote micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), taking into account factors such as jade quality and opportunities to enter domestic and foreign markets.
Foreign gem traders may purchase all gemstone sets except Group C jade lots. They may make payments in US dollars, euros, Chinese yuan, Thai baht and other foreign currencies accepted by the Central Bank of Myanmar. Local gem traders may pay in Myanmar kyat for pearl lots, gemstone lots and Group B and C jade lots, while foreign currency must be used to purchase Group A jade lots.
The Emporium is being held successfully to generate benefits for the State and its citizens. Measures are also being systematically implemented to manage precious gemstone resources sustainably and preserve the natural beauty of Myanmar for future generations.
