According to the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs, K45 million has been provided to 11 ethnic literature and culture associations and organizations in Shan State (South) to help preserve and promote the languages, literature, culture, arts and traditions of ethnic groups.
The approved funds were disbursed from the Shan State Government’s budget to the 11 ethnic literature and culture associations and organizations to promote ethnic literature, procure traditional musical instruments and accessories, conduct traditional textile weaving and tailoring training courses, and carry out ethnic affairs, according to reports.
Shan State Government will reportedly continue providing funds to the 11 ethnic literature and culture groups in Shan State (South), before extending the support to groups in northern and eastern Shan State.
The funds were received by 11 ethnic literature and culture associations and organizations representing the Shan, Pa-O, Danu, Taungyo, Inntha, Kachin, Kokang, Htanote, Lisu, Yinkya and Yinnet ethnic groups in Shan State (South), according to reports. — ASH/TH
