DISCUSSIONS on enhancing cooperation between the governments and business institutions of Myanmar and Bangladesh and exchanging invitations to trade fairs and forums were held in Chittagong, Bangladesh, in the third week of September, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ambassador met a delegation led by Md Amirul Haque, President of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the World Trade Centre; attended a working lunch hosted by the Chittagong Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CWCCI) at Hotel Agrabad; met a delegation led by President Mr Khalilur Rahman at the Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry headquarters; and met a delegation from the Khatunganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Hotel Agrabad.
The meetings highlighted establishing direct maritime trade routes, direct air connectivity, cooperation in tourism, trade, banking, energy, and MSME sectors between the two governments and private sectors, organizing online meetings between business associations on both sides and mutual invitations to trade fairs and forums. — ASH/KK
