The Preschool of the Social Welfare Department, which was temporarily suspended due to violent events, reopened in Falam Township yesterday.
As the ceremony was held at the Preschool of the Social Welfare Department in Falam Township, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thant Zaw Lwin, along with Chin State Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Win Zaw Oo and the Head of the State Social Welfare Department, cut the ribbon to open the school. In addition, the deputy minister and the state minister fed nutritious food to the children of the preschool.
At the ceremony, the deputy minister said that the Social Welfare Department and preschools in Haka, Tiddim and Falam Townships in Chin State have now resumed with the support of the State Government; the expansion of Preschools in Chin State and teachers’ salaries and teaching aids will be provided for 68 self-reliant preschool in Chin State in the financial year 2026-2027; and relevant departments and residents will support the long-term development of primary preschools. The deputy minister, State Minister and Secretary from the District Management and Administration Committee presented the teaching aids, necessary equipment and donations from the public.
In line with the instructions of the Head of State, the rehabilitation and reconstruction work in Chin State is being carried out at a rapid pace and the education, health and socioeconomic lives of the returnees in Falam are gradually returning to normal at present. There were three primary schools in Falam, and two primary schools have resumed operations.
Yesterday, the deputy minister and his team inspected the rehabilitation works in Falam township, such as the renovation of the Rural Road Development Department office building, the renovation of two units of staff housing, the renovation of the Township Cooperative Department staff house and office building, and the renovation of the Planning Department office building. The deputy minister and his team visited the No 3 Basic Education Post-Primary School, encouraged the students about peaceful learning, and inspected the completion of the renovation of the classroom building. — MNA/MKKS
