MYANMAR and Vietnam will accelerate agricultural cooperation, including rice, seeds, rice mill equipment, and storage systems, to boost bilateral trade and investment, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF).
The discussions took place at the Myanmar-Vietnam Business Forum 2026 on 6 September at the Melia Hotel in Hanoi, attended by the MRF delegation led by President U Ye Min Aung, accompanied by vice-presidents and executive members. U Ye Min Aung presented a paper on the potential for cooperation in the agriculture and fisheries sectors at the forum, proposing specific initiatives to expand trade and investment.
He emphasized that a B2B rice cooperation plan between the two countries would be prioritized. Areas for collaboration include rice seed production, modern farming technology, rice mills and drying machinery, rice storage systems and valueadded processing of agricultural products. Vietnam expressed strong interest in investing in Myanmar’s agriculture, food processing, and other valueadded industries. Both sides highlighted agriculture, food production, and valuechain development as a strong potential for collaboration. A pledge to move discussions into concrete business plans was also addressed.
