THE groundbreaking ceremony for the Mandalay Management Corporation (MMC) building, the first structure in Myanmar to incorporate modern seismic-isolator technology, was held at 8 am on 30 August at the Mingala Mandalay Compound in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay, between Mingala 3 Street and 107th Street.
The seismic-isolator technology incorporated into the structure is designed to effectively mitigate the direct impact of seismic vibrations and acceleration during an earthquake by preventing these forces from being transmitted directly to the building, thereby significantly enhancing structural reliability and safety.
The project is being implemented under the guidance of the Chief Minister of the Mandalay Region government, with support from the Mayor and Chairman of the Mandalay City Development Committee.
