THE College of Myanmar Arbitrators (CMA)’s first annual general meeting was held on 29 August at the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) in Yangon Region. CMA was formed as an independent institution under the UMFCCI, aiming to act as a mediator to settle disputes among Myanmar’s businesspersons and investors through legal solutions.

Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Htay Aung and Deputy Speaker U Kyaw Kyaw Soe, CMA chair Wunna Kyaw Htin Dr Maung Maung Thein and members attended the meeting. The CMA chair conferred the title of CMA patron to the regional Hluttaw Speaker U Htay Aung. In Myanmar, the procedures for settling disputes through arbitration have been set out in the Arbitration Law 2016.
