TURKISH Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said that approximately 70 structures have been uncovered across an area of about 2,700 square metres at Sayburc, an archaeological site dating to the mid9th millennium BC.
The minister added that the site is planned to be developed as an openair museum, while traditional village structures in the area are expected to be preserved as part of a pioneering village museum, Milliyet reported.
The discoveries at Sayburc are considered important for understanding Neolithic art and architecture. Excavated structures show a transition from circular to rectangular architectural plans and provide evidence relevant to the emergence of houses and households, said the report.
