The government has established the Yezin Agricultural University and the University of Veterinary Science (Yezin) over the years. The University of Agriculture and Livestock Breeding (Maubin) was also established in recent years, in addition to upgrading institutes of agriculture to the college level. Such efforts aim to produce agricultural and livestock breeding scholars across the nation.
Of them, the University of Agriculture and Livestock Breeding (Maubin) was established with the aim of producing agricultural and livestock scholars for Lower Myanmar. In particular, it is necessary to produce agricultural specialists with expertise in the crops predominantly cultivated and grown in Lower Myanmar.
As Myanmar is a country that gives priority to agriculture and livestock farming, it is necessary to systematically educate and train students to produce agricultural and livestock scholars who can contribute to the development of the country. Agricultural and livestock universities should place greater emphasis on producing well-qualified graduates rather than focusing on the number of students they train.
Students must be systematically educated and trained to develop proficiency in agricultural and livestock farming methods. They should also be systematically taught water supply and irrigation systems to ensure the efficient use of water resources, as well as practical agricultural knowledge and skills that are genuinely needed for agricultural production.
During their university education, students should be provided with a strong foundation. Teachers should guide and educate students to become outstanding, competent young people. If universities provide quality education and training, students can develop into talented and capable young people. Regardless of the subject they study, efforts should be made to help them become proficient and outstanding in their respective fields.
If circumstances permit, an Agriculture and Livestock Breeding University will be established in Shwebo. As Myanmar emphasizes agriculture and livestock farming, there are plans to upgrade agricultural and livestock institutes to college level and provide higher-level education and training to produce skilled agricultural workers and specialists. This will enable young people to acquire knowledge and skills in modern agricultural and livestock farming methods and contribute to the development of their respective regions and the country.
The university needs to provide education in practical fields that are genuinely required for agricultural and livestock production. Only by producing specialists who can make effective use of the region’s favourable natural resources and successfully develop agriculture and livestock farming will a new generation of professionals emerge who can contribute to the interests and development of the region and the country
