AS flood protection works are underway in Letpadan Township, Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, accompanied by the Speaker of the Region Hluttaw and regional ministers, inspected flood protection works being carried out near Ohgon Village in Letpadan Township to prevent erosion along the Ayeyawady River. He also inspected flood protection dykes on the east bank of the river to protect Letpadan and Monyo townships from flooding yesterday morning.
In addition, the chief minister inspected flood protection measures and ongoing preparations at the 9/0-mile point of the Ayeyawady River near Sanisu Village, Letpadan Township. The dyke on the east bank of the Ayeyawady River had been damaged by water erosion. Its condition was being continuously monitored due to changes in the course of the Ayeyawady River. The chief minister instructed officials to ensure that all necessary equipment was available for dyke construction and reinforcement.
Similarly, the chief minister and his delegation met local communities and instructed them to maintain the flood protection dykes over the long term. Relief materials, lunch boxes and financial assistance were provided to health workers, while honorariums were provided to departmental personnel and local volunteers working to strengthen the Sanisu embankment.
