THE Sitagu Sayadaw inspected the maintenance work at the historic Moscow Shwezigon, the first-ever pagoda in Russia built in authentic traditional Myanmar architecture.
To ensure the longterm durability and preservation of the pagoda – located within the Ethno-World (Etnomir) cultural park in the Bobrovsky District of Kaluga Region, Russia – the Sitagu Sayadaw visited the pagoda precinct yesterday to oversee the necessary maintenance operations. Accompanied by responsible officials, the Sayadaw toured the pagoda grounds to assess its structural integrity, identify areas vulnerable to weather damage, and evaluate the platform and other structural needs. He provided guidance on issues related to long-lasting renovation and reinforcement.
Additionally, the Sayadaw observed the displays inside the Ethno-World Museum, including the statue of the Tipiṭakadhara Mingun Sayadaw as well as figures of prominent personalities from Asian and Western countries.
The Moscow Shwezigon Pagoda is a historic landmark built in Russia utilizing genuine traditional Myanmar craftsmanship, serving as a symbol of religious and cultural friendship between Myanmar and Russia. In accordance with the Sayadaw’s guidance, necessary restoration and maintenance works will proceed as quickly as possible.
