RESIDENTS in 16 townships across Yangon may experience temporary water outages or low water pressure on the afternoon of 27 July due to scheduled maintenance at the Hlawga Reservoir pumping station, the Yangon City Development Committee’s Engineering Department (Water and Sanitation) announced.
The maintenance will be carried out from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm after a fault was detected in the OLTC control system of the station’s 33/6 kV, 4 MVA transformer. During the repair period, the main water pumps will be temporarily shut down.
The affected areas, which receive water from the Hlawga Reservoir, include Mingaladon, Shwepyitha, Mayangon, Hline, Hlinethaya (Industrial Zone), Insein, Kamayut, Bahan, Pabedan, Kyauktada, Lanmadaw, Latha, Tamway, Mingala Taungnyunt, Pazundaung, and Botahtaung townships.
Authorities have urged residents in the affected townships to store sufficient water in advance. Those experiencing difficulties accessing water during the maintenance period are advised to contact the relevant district assistance hotlines for support. — TWA/ST
