A technical seminar on electrical energy awareness for rice mills and rice-based manufacturing factories was held yesterday afternoon at the Mingala Hall of the Repulic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) on Min Ye Kyaw Swa Road in Yangon.
The event was organized by the Research and Development Committee of the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) to promote the safe and efficient use of electrical energy in rice mills and rice-based manufacturing industries, encouraging energy conservation, and sharing technical knowledge.
In his opening remarks, MRF President U Ye Min Aung said that the present era is driven by technology, making it essential for the rice sector to adopt advanced technologies in cultivation, milling, processing, and value-added production. He emphasized that science and technology are now more important than even quality seeds, fertilizers, and organic soil enhancement in ensuring the sector’s sustainable development. The Myanmar Rice Federation would continue prioritizing technological advancement and human resource development to prepare the rice industry for future challenges under its “Future-Ready Rice Sector” initiative.
The seminar featured presentations by electrical engineering experts including U Kyaw Oo (Founder and Engineer of Aethar Solar Engineering), U Nay Myo Win (Business Consultant, Shwe Wah Nadi Agricultural Production Co Ltd), U Zin Myo Set (Managing Director, Zillion Delta Innovation Co Ltd), and U Khant Ye Tun (Managing Director, Golden Myanmar Agro Land Engineering & Trading Co Ltd).
They discussed key electrical hazards in factories, including electric shock from direct or indirect contact, electrical sparks caused by poor installation or improper handling, dust explosions triggered by electrical sparks, and fire risks resulting from rodents or insects damaging electrical wiring. They also recommended preventive measures such as proper cable tray installation, sealing control and panel boxes against pests, enforcing strict workplace hygiene, conducting regular deep cleaning of machinery, and implementing effective pest control systems to reduce fire hazards.
Also present at the event were rice millers, entrepreneurs and electricians and technicians.
