THE plan to expand the production of cotton and cottonseed from the cotton plant was discussed in a meeting held on 20 July in Aunglan Township, which owns more than 60,000 acres of cotton plantations, according to the Department of Cooperatives and Rural Development.
During the meeting at Aunglan District General Administration Department, cotton ginners, cottonseed oil manufacturers and officials from the Magway Region Cooperative Department made their discussion.
As part of the plan to expand cotton gins in the region, the meeting also discussed establishing a cooperative society of mills to help ensure weaving raw materials are available on a large scale.
The head of the regional cooperative department head, the district administrator, and the township agriculture department’s staff officer attended the meeting. They discussed how establishing a cooperative society of cotton gins could streamline the proposal‑submission process to reflect business needs. — MT/ZS
